First steps with page4

Registration and confirmation of your new page4-homepage

We have described in detail everything you need to know to get your own free homepage in page4 Homepage registration.

Creating your own contents

Your new website does of course need some contents. The contents that you can find in the sample page when opening your free homepage for the first time are only there to show you what is possible. You should delete most of the contents and overwrite them because you want your website to be as unique as you are. Next to the content, the outfit and the design is also important, which is described in more detail below. The first step should be for you to look at the article Creating own contents.

Your homepage in your own design

Although you cannot upload your own code to create a completely new design there are numerous possibilities available to you to customise the website to your liking without any programming. We have described the basics in the article First steps to your own design so that you will have an easy start. So simply take a look and try it out. If you choose a new design to redesign your website, then the contents of your website will of course remain in tact. If you would like to save your current design to fall back on it again at a later stage, then you will require the favourably priced Premium Version.

The Blog-module for page4

By using the blog module you can create a full own blog in page4 with everything that belongs to it. In the article Blogging with page4 we describe all dialogues and explain in detail how you can use the blog.

First help about add contents and pages

Use the toolbar to add and edit content

When you move the cursor over the page, the individual sections are highlighted and a small tool bar appears on the upper border of the respective content. A page consists of any number of contents (sections) that are arranged one below the other. Each section has its own small tool bar. With this bar, you can create new sections (plus sign), edit sections (pen), delete sections (red cross) and move sections up and down (arrow). A new section always appears precisely under the section whose tool bar you have just used. Please observe the following: There must be at least one section on a page. Therefore, you cannot delete the section if it is the only section.

Please note that all contents on the Internet are visible, so carefully consider which private information you really want to publish. Protect private contents by providing the page(s) with a password.

Use the page manager icon to add and delete pages

With the symbol “Page Manager” you can rename the existing pages, add new pages, and do much more. Pages must be entered in the navigation so that they can be searched for. Click on the “Page Manager” symbol and select a page in the dialog. You can then edit the selected page through different options. With the arrows, move the page up or down, or indent the page in order to create a subpage out of it. With the symbol for editing, you can rename the page, adjust visual settings, link the page and do much more. With the two green plus-sign symbols, you can create a new page, which appears directly under the selected page, or copy the selected page along with its contents. Note that you cannot delete any page (the symbol with the red cross indicates this) that has subpages. You must first delete or move all subpages.
